Legend has it that Jian Zhen, the prestigious monk, after having been brought to the Major and Minor Grotto Heaven by the typhoon, remained unchanged in his resolution to go to Japan to spread the Buddhism. He went to the side of the South Sea every day and looked in the distance in the east. He measured the sea in person and listened to the wind, always getting prepared to resume the voyage.
