This "Longevity" engraved on the stone was the handwriting of Chen Tuo who was a well-known Taoist during the late Five Dynasties and beginning of Song Dynasty with a courtesy name of Tunan. He styled himself as Fuyaozi and was adept at calligraphy of characters as high as one meter and a half. This "Longevity" is written by integrating four characters of "man, longevity, year, and harvest", implying "Having a Life as Everlasting as Mt Nanshan". |
