Legend has it that Mao Kui, a magistrate in Song Dynasty once came across an immortal descending by air from Heaven. Mao Kui built a stone ladder along the track of the immortal and engraved with "Fairy Ladder" on the south-facing façade of the rock inscribing the "Wonderful View of the Mountain and Sea".
