Legend has it that Maokui, a magistrate in Song Dynasty left the city for Mountain Nanshan after his tenure was over. When he reached this bridge, he rose to the sky and flew out of sight. No one knew his whereabouts. In memory of Mao Kui, the local people constructed the bridge with a name of " Life-Prolonging Bridge ". It is said that walking on the bridge can help prolonging your life.
