The origin of the name "House of Xuanmiao" is from one sentence in The Book of Tao and Its Virtue-"The intertransformation of the opposite aspects of Xuan is the key to all the mysteries (Miao)". It is an ancient-style three-storey octagonal building overlooking the sea.
