Ganjin Group Statue
In the Yuan year of Tianbao of Tang Dynasty (742), the monk Jianzhen was invited by the Emperor of Japan to preach sutra in Japan, and he crossed the sea for six times, but the first five times failed. Tianbao seventh year (748) Jianzhen masters and disciples and other 35 people, from Yangzhou sailed the fifth time across the sea encountered a hurricane, drifted 10,000 miles to Zhenzhou (now the city of Sanya) Ningyuan estuary (now the Dongtian Park tourist attraction around the) disembarked, stayed here for a year and a half time, and spread the advanced culture of Central China in this area, for the development of local culture in Hainan has made a great contribution.
Later, in honour of the virtues of Master Jianzhen, the people of Hainan built his statue here to commemorate him.
